 Setting the neck relief
To check the relief of your neck, place a capo at the first fret press each string one at a time where the neck joins the body Approx. the17th fret. If you find your strings are actually touching the middle of the fingerboard, you're guitar definitely needs some adjustment! The distance midway between the two points approx. 7th fret should be .010 of an inch measured with a feeler gauge from the bottom of the string to the top of the fret. To adjust the neck loosen (left) the truss rod a 1/4 turn at a time to increase the relief and bow in the neck, measure the distance of the string height after ever 1/4 turn adjustment , or tighten the truss rod (right) to decrease the relief and straighten the neck, measure after ever 1/4" turn same as above.

If you are not comfortable doing this adjustment take your instrument to a qualified repair tech. These adjustments can seriously damage your instrument if not done correctly!

String height
To check the height of the unfretted strings above the frets. At the first fret and at the 12th fret of the first and sixth strings, measure the distance from the top of the fret and the bottom of the string. As with relief, there is some room here for personal preference, but here are WT. Foster Guitars Stock setup measurements: (use a set of feeler gauges to measure these heights)
1st fret - 1/64th of an inch at the first string (e) and 1/32nd of an inch on the sixth string (E). for electric guitar
12th fret -The first string (e) is 3/64th of an inch and the sixth string (E) is 5/64th of an inch.

If your string height is much higher or lower, you'll need to make some adjustments. The place to start is the Bridge. WTFG electric guitars have Schaller rap around bridge that make it easy to raise or lower the strings with the adjustable studs. (Always de-tune the strings to take the tension of the string off the bridge saddles before doing these adjustments) . To determine how much to raise or lower, a good rule of thumb is that it will take twice the correction at the bridge as the amount that needs to be corrected at the 12th fret. For example, if you want the sixth string to be 5/64th of an inch (Factory set) and it measures 7/64th, you'll need to lower the string by 1/16th inch at the bridge.

this is a general principle. Retune after all adjustment are completed if the string height is still not to your liking repeat the above steps until you are happy with the string height. Action that is set to low will cause fret buss and dead notes this is not a defect in the instrument, Remember strings need room to vibrate!!

To check the intonation you will need a tuning devise such as a chromatic or strobe tuner , play each string at the 12th fret, and compare it to the natural octave harmonic at the same location. If the fretted note is higher than the harmonic move the saddle towards the back of the bridge. Conversely, if the fretted note is lower than the harmonic move the saddle toward the neck. To do these adjustments loosen the string off and adjust the saddle toward the tailpiece of the guitar to lengthen the string, then re-tune to pitch and try the same method as above do this until both harmonic and fretted note are the same. WTFG bridges allow you to adjust each string independently which makes it easy to get perfect intonation.

If you are not comfortable making this adjustment take your instrument to a qualified repair tech.

Pickup height adjustment

The pickups on your new instrument are fully adjustable by turning the height adjustment screws at each end of the pickup. With the high and low E strings depressed at the last fret the measurement should approx. 5/64” on the treble side and about 3/32” on the bass side of both pickups. This is the factory setting. You may adjust to your own taste if you wish.
